A great new theme this year is the rustic wedding. There are many different things you can do with this theme and it’s great for brides with different personalities. You can throw a vintage theme into it or a country theme. A rustic wedding can fit with any budget because a lot of the projects can be DIY and you can get most of your materials from nature.
Location is a big part of this theme. Outside locations would be ideal for making your wedding rustic and there are so many different possibilities of locations. A field, a farm, and even the beach because they are the best spots to get the nature aspect. There are so many fun ideas that you can do for your ceremony with an outside rustic theme. A couple ideas would be to have your guests sit on hay bales that have some nice fabric covering them or have wooden benches for seats.
There are 4 key items that make a wedding more rustic: burlap, mason jars, twine, and wooden items. Burlap can be used for a lot of items at your wedding. It can cover the hay bales that guests sit on for your ceremony, it can be used to wrap around your bouquets, and can also be used as table cloths for your reception. Wooden items are a must at a rustic wedding. They bring the nature feeling and are budget friendly because you can get most of them from your back yard. Wooden signs are a hot trend right now as well. You can paint different things on them or even use a wood burner. You could have one inch thick piece of wood and burn your table numbers on them or have your initials. They even make cakes and wedding invitations that look like wood! By sending wooden invitations, it is a great way to let your guests know of your rustic wedding theme.
Twine is another essential item and can be used throughout the entire wedding. It is fairly inexpensive and can be used to accent items and to hang items up. It can also be used to wrap boutonniere and bouquet stems. Mason jars are very in style right now and have multiple uses. They can be used as vases for your reception flowers or for floating candles, they can hold your alter flowers and also for glasses to drink out of. They are also very inexpensive because you can buy them in bulk but can probably find them at your local second hand store.
So go out and explore your backyard and local second hand store. You never know what you are going to find to make your wedding unique and fun!
