Spring Baby Shower

May 4th, 2012

I recently helped my Aunt Lynn Rozema plan a baby shower for my cousin Samantha.  I have to admit my aunt has party planning in her blood, so it was a breeze to help her out.

The baby shower was held in the event room at Salt and Pepper.  We had amazing service and food! I would recommend this location for any small party (would be a great spot for a wedding shower too).

Elements of Elegance provided beautiful floral for the event…small arrangements of tulips were placed on each table and around the room and a larger tulip bouquet was the center of attention.  The flowers were a colorful touch the the party! They also were given away to guests at the end of the day.

It’s a girl! Balloons came from Party City.

The cake was the momma-to-be’s choice from Family Fare bakery.

At each guest seat were Chocolate Covered Pretzel Sticks made personally by a friend of Lynn’s (Gintare Baltrukoniene) and Chocolate Pacifiers from Graham Chocolate.

Wouldn’t be complete with out some Baby Shower Games! As guests arrived they were a few baby bottles filled with various snack/candy items.  Guests wrote their guess of how many was in each bottle.  Winner was the closest to the real answer.

We also played the memory game.  Lynn bought and filled a baby bath tub up with various small baby items that were on Samantha’s baby registry.  She went around the room slowly and we had to remember as much as we could.  Then she gave us 5 minutes to write as much as we could remember on a sheet of paper.  Winners of all the games got to pick out of a basket filled with various $10 gift cards.  The best part is that the mom-to-be gets to keep all the memory game items!

To keep gift opening interesting for the guests, we had a timer going and when the timer stopped, if Samantha was opening your gift, you got to pick a prize.  These were fun games that didn’t take up too much time, but had many guests winning prizes!

What an awesome idea! Because kids were invited, Lynn made up goodie pails to keep the kids occupied during the shower.  They were a big hit for the kids and parents!

This was quite a fun party!  Let EOE help you plan your next wedding or baby shower!

Happy Planning

Guest Book Ideas

May 2nd, 2012

As I was making a list of items that I need to bring on my wedding day, I came across our guest book, which was my inspiration for today’s post.  Instead of going with the traditional book, brides are coming up with so many different fun and unique ideas.  Below are some of my favorite guest book ideas!

1. Engagement Picture Book

This is the type of guest book that my fiance and I are doing.  I love this idea because when you look back at the book, you can see who signed your guest book but also see your engagement pictures.  It also gives your guests who haven’t seen your engagement pictures a chance to look at them.

2. Thumb Print

I like this idea because guests can interact with this guest book and can choose their color and where they want to place their thumb print.  It also can be an art piece that you hang on your wall after the wedding.

3. Typewriter

Guests can type the bride and groom a message on an old typewriter.  We had a couple last year that used this idea and their guests had a ton of fun writing them well wishes.  Once guests are done, have them hang their message up on a board so that other guests can see what they wrote.

4. Jenga Blocks

I think this is a fun idea!  Have guests write a message on Jenga blocks and build a tower.  This would be fun to play Jenga with some friends and read the messages that people wrote.

5. Puzzle Pieces

I love this idea because you can have one of your engagement pictures made into a puzzle and have your guests sign the back of the pieces.  Have the puzzle assembled and let your guests choose the piece that they would like to sign.  Once they have wrote their message, have them put the pieces in a jar and then you and your fiance can put the puzzle together and read the messages.

I hope these ideas give you an inspiration for your guest book!  Happy Planning!

Fairytale Wedding

May 1st, 2012

In honor of it being the first anniversary of Kate and William’s wedding I thought I would put a collection together on my idea of a fairytale wedding.

This is the most beautiful ceremony area. I just love all of the flowers it makes it look so elegant. Its the perfect place to say your vows.

I love the look of this reception area. All the amazing chandeliers and centerpieces really make this place look like a fairytale.

I love this place card and card holder they really tie the theme together.

This is such a cute idea for gifts to your guests.

This puts such a fun twist on a wedding.  It shows what your wedding theme will be so the guests can get excited about the amazing wedding that they are going to attend.

This is just my idea of a fairytale wedding. If you just stay true to your dreams your fairytale will come true.

Have Fun Planning!!!

April Showers

April 30th, 2012

Happy Last Day of April! Can you believe tomorrow will be May already? Hopefully today’s showers will bring May flowers.

Wedding season is right around the corner but wedding shower season is in full swing! Wedding showers come in all shapes and sizes. The shower might have the same color scheme as the wedding or it might take the opposite direction. It’s always smart to focus on a theme for any event. Whether the theme is a certain color or an era of time it helps to focus your ideas and inspiration.

The best showers are the ones where all the guests enjoy themselves. To keep things fun and interactive have your guests create their own favor! Here are a few of my favorites are body scrub, perfume bars and candy buffets.

And what’s a party without a fabulous cocktail? The drinks are another great aspect of the event to keep the theme rolling. Pink mojitos anyone?

Flower Girls

April 26th, 2012

Flower girls add something really special to your wedding.  It’s great to be able to include younger members of your family into your special day and they will be just as excited as you are to be a part of the wedding.  With the trends in weddings constantly changing, flower girls are no exception.  Recently I have seen a lot of creative ideas for flowers girls not only with what they wear but also with what they carry down the aisle.

I love the idea of using watering cans instead of the traditional basket.  This would be great for a spring time wedding.

Here are some alternative ideas to having a basket. Having a small bouquet attached to a ribbon loop has become very popular. I personally love the ribbon wands because it is something I have never seen before.

Head pieces, like this wreath, are another great way to give the flower girl flowers without having an actual basket. The girls will love it because it will make them feel like a princess.  My favorite thing I’ve seen recently is flower girls in tutu dresses! It looks absolutely adorable and it’s perfect for the dance floor!

I came across this picture and thought it was really cute. I love when brides are able to add a little humor to their wedding.

Happy Planning!

First Look

April 25th, 2012

As brides, we are all faced with the decision of if we want to see our groom before the ceremony or not.  Some people say that it is bad luck to see their groom and others don’t believe it is.  Here are some of my favorite first look ideas for those who don’t want to see their groom beforehand but also for those who do.

I love the idea of hiding behind balloons and then letting them go.  Your bridal party and family could be somewhere close and once they see the balloons floating away, then they know exactly when you saw each other.

I have found a lot of first look pictures where there is only a door separating the bride and groom from not seeing each other.  I especially like the first one because they were reading the letters that they wrote to each other.

Another first look option that I have found is where the groom is either blind folded or the bride covers the grooms eyes with her hands.

Here is another spin on that previous idea.  The groom was blind folded and the bride kept her eyes closed the whole time.

I would love to hear some feed back from our readers on whether or not you would like to see your groom before the ceremony.

Wedding Veils

April 24th, 2012

One of the oldest traditions in weddings is the veils. There are many different stories on how the wedding veil began. There are stories from an arranged marriage the brides were to hide their faces in case the groom didn’t like what he saw. There are also stories about evil spirits and the veil being a way to confuse them.  The length of the veils has been attributed to what kind of ceremony that the bride is having. The longest veils have been known to be in cathedral weddings and the length gets shorter depending on the wedding.

The times have changed… veils now resemble tradition and joy, and when your groom finally lifts that veil it resembles the beginning of your new life.

So, pick a veil that resembles your personality, and make sure your comfortable in it.  Here are a couple of my favorites…

Have Fun Planning!!
