The Wedding
Andy and Heidi were married at the Zion Lutheran Church in Holland Michigan. The couple was members of the church and loved the warm feeling of the sanctuary. The couple had a 40 minute service complete with a family friend soloist that brought tears to the all that were there. Their ceremony was very much about them. I have never seen a couple that looked at each other they way they did In all honestly there was no one there in the church but the two of them in their eyes.
The Wedding Attire
The Bride’s dress was white chiffon with nice amount of beading with blue piping with the bridesmaids were wearing long two piece navy dresses. The Groom wore a Calvin Klein Black Tux with a white vest. The Groomsmen and fathers also wore black Calvin Klein tuxes with orange vests. The entire bridal party attire was purchased at Jane’s Bridal in Holland Michigan. Unfortunately Jane has retired since this wedding.
The Decor
The couple wanted lots of little touches added that reflected them as a couple. With Andy being a Hope College grad they decided that their wedding color scheme needed to be the dark navy blue and a nice warm orange color. But also they wanted to bring in the feel of Italy since that was their honeymoon destination. The bride came up with making custom wine labels for wine bottles that we could use as vases for half the table. The other half of the reception dinner tables she had Eiffel towers with large arrangements flowing down. Also she had us design “Wishing Cards” for the guest to share something with the couple. In addition to the cards, Heidi made personalized labels that she attached to small tulle sacks of kisses. But the little touches did not just stop at the tables. We made a card box for the couple out of an old wine crate that was lined with fabric and grape vines were weaved threw the slates. We also had custom pillars that were made for just this wedding. They were staggered at 8ft, 6ft, and 4ft behind the head table. It really set the stage of the event.
Flowers
Since they were such large wedding party, there wasn’t much need for décor at the church other then some loose flowers for the Unity Candle which they purchased at The Holland Candle Company. But when it came to flowers for the bridal party and table décor at the reception, Heidi wanted it to be simple but elegant. For the bridal bouquet she choose a hand tied bouquet with a mixture of cream and pale orange roses, sweetheart roses, dark blue delphinium, collared with Sprengeri ferns. The Jr Bridesmaids bouquets were smaller versions of the bride’s. The bridesmaids held a hand tied bouquet of 18 pale orange roses with a collar of Sprengeri ferns. The maid of honor held the same bouquet but we added the dark blue delphinium to make hers a bit different. For all the bouts and corsages we used cream and pale orange roses with dark green ivy. The reception flowers were a mix of very tall Eiffel towers and wine bottles with mix of roses, lilies, and delphinium
Reception
Since the bride and groom were married the weekend of Thanksgiving, they decided against the typical meat and potatoes dinner selection. Instead they choose to have an Italian Buffet made up of different pasta dishes, fresh salads, and breadsticks. Then in addition to their absolute wonderful tasting wedding cake, they added Italian wedding cookies for their guest to enjoy.
Entertainment
We were blessed to have Don from Complete Music. They did a wonderful job at getting the party started and also keep the evening activities right on schedule.
